Ahhh…technology. It’s always making life a little easier. This time, it’s for truck drivers. Sometime during the second quarter of 2009, Garmin International will release its new GPS Navigator that was designed specifically for the trucking industry, the nϋvi 465T. This software has the ability to do more for today’s truck drivers than you can imagine.
The nϋvi 465T is preloaded with the National Truck and Trailer Services (NTTS) Breakdown Directory, providing drivers with the most comprehensive guide to truck repair facilities across the country. It also includes detailed, street-level maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico with voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, traffic delay alerts, and Bluetooth technology. And here’s the part that got me – the nϋvi 465T’s software allows truck drivers to enter the tractor-trailer’s height, weight, length, width, and hazardous materials information. It will then notify the driver of dimension and hazardous materials restrictions and will adjust the routes accordingly! Amazing! It’s just another way technology has made life on the road a little easier and the trucking industry more efficient.
