Schneider National Halts Hiring Inexperienced Truck Drivers

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 by

North America’s largest truckload carrier, Schneider National, has stopped hiring truck drivers that have little to no experience behind the wheel of a big rig. Now, all open driving positions with the company have been reserved for veteran truck drivers. This is in part due to the state of the American economy, which has forced many trucking companies out of business and has allowed the remaining carriers to tighten their hiring criteria. Trucking companies like Schneider are able to stop recruiting inexperienced truck drivers because they say there are now more experienced drivers in the trucking industry than there are jobs.

But there is at least one company that isn’t affected and is still recruiting inexperienced truck drivers – Driver Solutions. The Driver Solutions Network recruits and trains inexperienced truck drivers, as well as qualifying their application with trucking companies like USA Truck and P.A.M. Transport before the CDL training begins. So if you need a job or are looking for a career change, the trucking industry and Driver Solutions are great places to start.
