USA Truck announced its 1st quarter results today and it is evident the company continues to move forward in a positive direction.  Here are some reasons why it's an especially good time to become a driver for USA Truck:

• The economy, in general, is picking back up as is indicated by a 11.7% increase in base revenue compared to the first quarter of last year.  The company was also able to improve operating cash flow, free cash flow and the overall health of the balance sheet.

• Cliff Beckham, President and CEO at USA Truck, continues to say, "We will not lower our hiring standards to man our trucks because the cost of doing so is much higher in the long-term than the short-term costs associated with elevated recruiting expense and reduced tractor utilization."

The first quarter results demonstrate that the company is sticking with its VEVA (Vision for Economic Value Added) strategic plan and that it understands the CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) program requirements for the Department of Transportation.

Beckham closed the article by saying, "We believe freight and capacity dynamics in the marketplace are favorable for additioanl pricing gains in the second quarter, which we expect will benefit all three of our business segments as we press forward with the VEVA strategic plan."
