Here are some interesting things about 18-wheelers:

1. How much does an 18-wheeler cost?
The cab of an 18-wheeler can run anywhere from $80,000 to $120,000, whereas trailers run anywhere from $30,000 to $60,000 new.  So basically, if you were to get the entire truck new, it would cost you in upwards of $180,000!

2. How long does it take to stop an 18-wheeler?
If you ever had a physics class, then you know this question has a myriad of variables involved.  Overall, however, the length of time to stop an 18-wheeler takes 40% more time than that of a regular vehicle.  Other factors to consider when figuring this measurement are: the weight of the load, road conditions, whether the truck is bob-tailing and other factors.
